This unique full-day tour unveils the footsteps of the ancient Romans and introduces the cities of Split and Salona , once the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia.
The tour begins in Salona, situated on the Dalmatian coast, four miles from Split. One of the largest sites of antiquity-era monuments in the country, it is known as Croatia’s Pompeii. Discover the 2nd-century amphitheater that will take you back to the times of the fierce gladiators who fought here. Walk the remains of a cemetery basilica dating to the 4th century and explore the ruins of a cathedral with three naves, along with the 1st century public baths.
The tour then continues on to Diocletian's Palace in Split, with an emphasis on what life was like alongside Emperor Diocletian in a guided tour of all of the palace's treasures.
The tour concludes with an imperial dinner composed of dishes from the time of Diocletian, served by waiters in Roman togas.
