The island of Korcula undoubtedly holds a privileged position among the Croatian islands. Here we find more tales, legends and monuments than on any of the other islands. Korcula Old Town is also called a "miniature version of Dubrovnik" because of several ornate entry gates and fortified walls punctuated with defense towers, built by the Venetians in the 13th century.
